Home Options is a leading provider of private home care services in the greater Birmingham area and a local resource and expert on elder related issues. Founded in 1998, Home Options is locally owned and operated and is proud to be one of the first privately owned (non-franchise), private duty agencies in the Birmingham area.
Home Options is committed to the safe care of clients and fully employs all caregivers, relieving clients of the risks associated with hiring through a registry or matchmaker service. When consumers hire caregivers that aren't employed by an agency, the client essentially becomes the employer and is responsible for background checks, supervision, training, taxes, workers compensation, etc. As the employer of caregivers, Home Options performs background checks, provides regular training and supervision and all caregivers are bonded and insured. Additionally, Home Options caregivers receive regular training and are educated specifically in caring for patients with dementia.
Home Options, Inc:
- Provides supervision for all services, 24 hours a day.
- Provides care services 24/7/365 days a year.
- Complies with all employment laws.
- Is bonded and insured.
- Provides ongoing training and education to all caregivers.
- Is managed by committed professionals who are leaders in the prevention of elder abuse and exploitation.

Christy Socol, Founder & President

Home Options Founder, Christy Socol is passionate about senior related issues and the safe care of the homebound. After struggling with the care of her own elderly parents, Socol founded Home Options because of a distinct need she saw for safe, reliable and high quality home care. Only able to find "sitter" services and home care registries which don't maintain employment or supervision of caregivers, Socol was appalled with the lack of standards and the risks associated with the options available to seniors in Birmingham. Socol saw a need to create a company with high standards to serve those desiring to "age in place" at home. Today Home Options is a pioneer is the safe care of the elderly and the local go-to source for geriatric resources and information for both the community at large and in the professional arena.

As part of her commitment to providing safer options in home care, Socol is passionate about educating seniors and their families about the risks and responsibilities in home care. Since home care is not regulated in the state of Alabama and caregivers are not required to be licensed, Socol has committed herself to fighting for higher standards in home care and creating safer options for seniors.
Prior to founding Home Options, Socol worked in research at the University of Alabama. She holds a B.S. degree from Southern Adventist University. She is a member of the National Private Duty Association and the Case Management Society of America. She presently serves on the Home Care Association of Alabama Board of Directors as the Ancillary Member Representative.
